Tezzbuzz Desk- Pakistan’s experienced batsman Fakhar Zaman has suffered a big shock. The technical committee of Pakistan Super League (PSL) has rejected his appeal, after which the two-match suspension imposed on him will remain intact.

Lahore Qalandars opener Fakhar Zaman was accused of ball tampering. In this case, match referee Roshan Mahanama considered him guilty and banned him for two matches, challenging which Fakhar appealed.

However, the three-member technical committee constituted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) upheld the match referee’s decision after hearing all the evidence and witness statements. The committee included Professor Javed Malik, Dr. Mumrez Naqshband and Syed Ali Naqi.

This matter came to light on March 29 during the match played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where Fakhar was accused of changing the position of the ball in the match against Karachi Kings. Taking action on this, the umpires also gave a penalty of five runs to the opposing team and the ball was changed.

According to the PCB, Fakhar Zaman violated Article 2.14 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which deals with illegal changes to the position of the ball. This is considered a Level 3 offence, carrying a ban of at least one and a maximum of two matches.

During the hearing, Fakhar had rejected the allegations against him and declared himself innocent. During this, Shaheen Shah Afridi and other team members were also present.

The Technical Committee made it clear that their decision is final and binding. In such a situation, now Fakhar Zaman will have to stay out of the upcoming two matches, which can prove to be a big blow for his team.
