Arsenal predicted XI vs Southampton with Max Dowman and Martin Odegaard among big changes

Arsenal take on Southampton in the final eight of the FA Cup as they look to reach Wembley for the second occasion this season. The Saints are the hosts and have already knocked out Premier League side Fulham in West London to reach this stage.

Mikel Arteta saw plenty of his squad drop out of international duty with fitness-related issues, and as a result, could make plenty of changes. Even more so due to the fact that as many as 12 players missed the international break due to injury.

The Spaniard provided some updates on the squad ahead of the game. This has helped make some inroads that we might expect to start, but it remains rather speculative.

  • Max Dowman and Martin Odegaard start among nine Arsenal changes for Southampton
  • Arsenal starting line-up vs Southampton decided as Mikel Arteta juggles injury crisis

Here is who football.london predicts will start:

Kepa Arrizabalaga

After his high-profile mistake in the Carabao Cup final, many might expect that David Raya will come in, but principles appear to be something Arteta sticks to.

Ben White

After making his return to the England setup, Ben White has been the centre of plenty of talk, but as we know, he likes to do his talking on the pitch.

Cristhian Mosquera

After making his senior Spanish debut, the centre-half will be full of confidence to get some minutes here.

Gabriel

After both Gabriel and William Saliba, it is likely only one might make their way back into the Arsenal side for this cup game with Sporting CP on Tuesday.

Myles Lewis-Skelly

The 19-year-old enjoyed a brilliant showing for the England under-21s against Moldova and could make a play to start at left-back with Calafiori having played so much for Italy.

Christian Norgaard

Another who saw what could have been his final World Cup hopes come crashing down. But a great chance here to get some important minutes and give more rest to Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi.

Kai Havertz

With so many changes needed, and the midfield in particular under scrutiny, it could see Havertz come in.

Martin Odegaard

Certainly one of the headliners, the captain could be back and start here to begin the road to full recovery and become a big part of the run-in.

Max Dowman

With both Saka and Madueke suffering from issues, it makes sense that the youngster can come in on the right, and he scored a great goal this past week.

Gabriel Jesus

Viktor Gyokeres also played plenty of football for Sweden, whereas Gabriel Jesus was fully rested and should come in.

Gabriel Martinelli

With Leandro Trossard having pulled out and Martinelli having limited minutes for Brazil, and having been so good in the cups, he’s likely to be the best option.
