Prior to the match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and MI, Rahul had amassed 160 runs off 103 balls in 13 encounters against Chahar, boasting an impressive strike rate of 155.3 and had never been dismissed by him in IPL history. This achievement made him the highest-scoring batsman against a bowler without being dismissed in the tournament's history.

Unfortunately for Rahul, his streak came to an abrupt halt in the recent game against MI, where he was dismissed by Chahar for the first time in IPL, scoring only one run. His tally of 160 runs against Chahar remains the highest a batsman has scored off a bowler without being dismissed in IPL.

While chasing a target of 163 runs set by the five-time champions Mumbai, the Delhi opener's early dismissal was a setback.

In this match, MI established a target of 163 runs for the Capitals in the eighth match of IPL 2026. After winning the toss, the hosts opted to let the MI team, led by Suryakumar Yadav in the absence of Hardik Pandya due to illness, bat first.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 51 runs off 36 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes. Rohit Sharma contributed 35 runs from 26 balls, including six boundaries. Naman Dhir added a quick 28 runs off 21 balls. Mitchell Santner (18 not out) and Corbin Bosch (11 not out) also played crucial roles, helping MI reach a competitive total of 162 runs. Mukesh Kumar claimed two wickets, while Patel, Natarajan, Ngidi, and Nigam each took one wicket.

As for the response, Delhi Capitals were at 73/3 after 10 overs, needing 90 more runs to secure victory.
