New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad absorbed an opening phase stutter against Lucknow Super Giants to post a fighting 156 for nine in IPL 2026 on Sunday.
LSG won the toss and invited the home team to bat with Mohammed Shami (2/9) dismissing Abhishek Sharma (0) and Travis Head (7) and Prince Yadav (2/34) sending Ishan Kishan (1) back within the fourth over.
SRH were reduced to 11 for three and 26 for four when Liam Livingstone (14) falling to Digvesh Rathi (1/46) in the eight over.
But Heinrich Klaassen (62) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (56) produced a superb counter-attacking 116-run fifth wicket partnership that pulled SRH from a dismal 35 for four in 10 overs to 142 for five in 17.4 overs.
Klaassen blasted five boundaries and two sixes, with Reddy matching him shot for shot with three fours and five sixes.
LSG then contained SRH’s charge with five wickets in the death overs as Avesh Khan (2/36) sent back Klaassen and Harsh Dubey (0) prevented them from crossing the 160-run mark.
Hosts SRH lost their first match to defending champions Royal Champions Bengaluru but beat Kolkata Knight Riders in their next game.
LSG began their campaign with a home defeat against Delhi Capitals.
