Mohammed Shami expressed his joy after being awarded the Player of the Match (POTM) for his outstanding performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match, where the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets. Shami delivered remarkable bowling figures of 2 wickets for just 9 runs in 4 overs, playing a crucial role in dismantling SRH's top order. Although SRH managed to score 156 runs for 9 wickets, it was not enough to secure a win as LSG chased down the target successfully. Notably, Shami bowled an impressive 18 dot balls during his spell.

In the post-match presentation, Shami shared his strategy of incorporating slower balls into his bowling this season. He mentioned that his decision was influenced by observing opponents' tactics from the previous year. "Last year, I noticed many slower balls being bowled, which inspired me to try them as well," he explained.

He highlighted the necessity of staying connected to the game, maintaining fitness, and participating in domestic matches to remain in form. "Winning this match was crucial for us to build momentum after our last defeat at home. Once you gain that winning momentum, it tends to continue," Shami stated.
