According to The StarKung and Tan celebrated their union with two wedding receptions. The first ceremony took place in Los Angeles, Kung’s birthplace, in December 2025. A second reception followed on March 28, at the Marriott Putrajaya in Malaysia, attended by approximately 350 guests.

The couple reportedly exchanged luxury gifts from their families, including a Patek Philippe watch for Tan and a Rolex watch for Kung, reported Mothership.

Tan’s father KS Tan previously held a senior executive role at Pernod Ricard China, according to 8days. She is also believed to be the niece of Lee Shin Cheng, founder of IOI Group, a conglomerate with interests in palm oil and real estate. Lee’s fortune was estimated at US$5.4 billion at the time of his death in 2019 by Forbes.

Despite her “privileged family,” as she told Travel LA in an interview, Tan has emphasized a grounded and disciplined childhood. Educated at the Chinese International School in Hong Kong and the Shanghai American School, she described her parents’ guiding principles as centered on humility and privacy.

“Their rule was simple: stay humble, stay safe, and never make yourself a target,” Tan said. “Attention was considered dangerous back then, especially in Asia, so privacy meant protection.”

She later pursued higher education in Australia, earning a master’s degree in education from the University of Melbourne. She spent seven years working as a teacher, a career she grew to love after teaching English during a summer break at a public school in Hong Kong.

“It was not glamorous,” she recalled. “The hours were long and I struggled more than I expected. I almost quit after the first year, and my parents even encouraged me to come home.”

But she persisted, driven by a desire to prove to herself that she could build a life defined by purpose rather than privilege.

“I wanted a life that felt earned instead of handed down. That choice shaped a lot of my confidence later on.”

Her relationship with Kung began in 2023, after he reached out to her through social media. The singer later described their initial connection as instantly meaningful.

“The first time we spoke I knew it was special,” he later recalled, according to the Daily Mail. “The first time we met I knew she would one day be my wife.”

At the time, neither was fully aware of the other’s family background. Kung has said he only realized the extent of Tan’s connections after meeting her family in person, reported L’Officiel Malaysia.

Following Kung’s proposal in 2024, Tan relocated to Los Angeles, where the couple now resides. She has since shifted her focus toward building a home life.

“There’s often this misconception that when a woman isn’t traditional working her 9-to-5 job, she’s less significant or that she’s ‘just a housewife,’” she told Shoutout LA in an interview. “But I’ve come to realize how inaccurate that assumption is. The work I do in nurturing our family and creating a home is incredibly meaningful, it offers me a sense of purpose and a richer understanding of womanhood.”

In addition to that, she also maintains a presence as a model and online influencer, roles she says developed organically through sharing her daily experiences on social media. Tan credits her teaching background with helping her connect with audiences.

“Being a teacher has sharpened my emotional intelligence, so I’m pretty good at connecting with others with confidence and compassion.”
