There is good news for Shikshamitras and instructors of Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Adityanath government of the state has increased the honorarium. The proposal to increase the honorarium has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today, April 7, 2026. The increased rate of honorarium will be considered applicable from April 1, 2026. This means that the salary for the month of April which will be received in May will come with the new rates. This decision has been taken in order to announce the Chief Minister in the first session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly session 2026.
Increase in honorarium by Rs 8000
According to the decision of the cabinet meeting, the honorarium of Shikshamitras has been increased by Rs 8000, after which the honorarium has increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000 per month. This increase has been made for the first time since 2017. At the same time, the honorarium of part-time instructors working in the Education Department has been increased to Rs 17,000 per month instead of Rs 9,000. The new rates will be considered applicable from April 1, 2026. The salary for the month of April, which will be received in May, will include the benefit of increased honorarium. 1.43 lakh Shikshamitras and instructors will benefit from this.
The state government will incur additional expenditure of more than Rs 1475.27 crore.
