Kelly Clarkson recently revealed which singer she feared the most in her first-ever The Voice All-Star Showdown. This competition saw winners and fan-favorite artists of coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine take on each other in a fierce contest. Though Kelly became the winning coach, there was one singer she was afraid of.
Kelly Clarkson’s team featured Jake Hoot (Season 17 winner) and Girl Named Tom (Season 21 winner) in The Voice All-Star Showdown. In the contest, each artist performed a song that they previously sang on The Voice, with the winners of each battle picked by OG coach CeeLo Green.
Out of everyone, Clarkson revealed that she was afraid of Jordan Smith from Adam Levine’s team.
“It was amazing to see Cee Lo Green be floored by these individuals that I knew what they’re capable of, so it was really cool to have that extra win, to be able to bring somebody else to the table,” Kelly told Parade“I definitely rubbed it in the [other coaches] faces.”
She continued, “John and I were both worried about Jordan Smith. We were pretty worried about Jordan, but at the same time, the thing I love about the people that have been on my teams in general, I choose a wide net.”
Clarkson also revealed why she picked the two contestants that she had for her own team. “Jake Hoot is so great at what he does. He’s one of those people … when we got in rehearsal, I was like, ‘You need to just stand there flat-footed and sing that damn song, because he’s got such a beautiful.’” She added about Girl Named Tom, “knew I was going to bring back two of my winners, and I knew that Girl Named Tom had to be one, too, because that family harmony, in my opinion and I’m obviously biased, but I’ve heard other coaches say it, too, that they’re the best group that’s ever won on that show hands down.”
“I’m super proud of them,” Clarkson added.
