The politics of Bihar is currently standing at its biggest turning point. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is soon going to resign from his post and head to Delhi, where he will take oath as a Rajya Sabha member. Meanwhile, speculations were being made that now Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will become the Chief Minister of Bihar. But, just before Nitish Kumar goes to Delhi, his party Janata Dal United (JDU) has made a move which has increased everyone’s heartbeat. Now a strong demand is being raised from within the party to project Nitish’s son Nishant Kumar as the chief ministerial candidate.

‘Heritage strong, future strong’: Poster creates stir

Before Nitish Kumar left for Delhi, a poster put up at the residence of JDU chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar has become a topic of discussion. In this poster, there is a picture of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with his son Nishant Kumar, on which it is written in big letters – “Heritage is strong, future is strong… Nishant Kumar is ready.” After the appearance of this poster, there has been a stir in the political circles whether JDU is now going to follow the path of dynasticism or is this a well thought out strategy to stop BJP.

Nishant has all the qualities of Nitish: Neeraj Kumar

While talking on this issue on Wednesday (April 8, 2026), JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar made it clear that this is not just a poster, but the heart’s desire of JDU workers. He said, “We and JDU workers want Nishant to become the next CM of Bihar. He has all the qualities of Nitish Kumar.” Giving an interesting argument, Neeraj Kumar said that ‘Ni’ means Nitish and ‘Ni’ also means Nishant. According to him, Nishant is fully capable and ready to take forward the social and ideological legacy that Nitish Kumar has created.

What will be the future of Bihar after resignation?

According to the schedule, Nitish Kumar will leave for Delhi on Thursday and will take oath as Rajya Sabha member on the 10th. There is every possibility of him resigning from the post of Chief Minister as soon as he returns to Patna from Delhi. However, Neeraj Kumar also added that all the constituents of NDA will together decide on who will be the CM. But the way JDU has started calling Nishant Kumar a ‘universally accepted leader’, it is clear that the tussle between JDU and BJP for the chair of Bihar may increase in the coming days.
