PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme: Under the Central Government’s PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, a total of 22 installments have been disbursed to farmers so far. Under this scheme, eligible farmers are provided with an annual financial assistance of ₹6,000. Farmers are now awaiting the 23rd installment; however, the government has recently introduced certain changes to the scheme’s regulations.
For the 23rd installment, the government has made the ‘Farmer Registry’—specifically, the Unique Farmer ID—mandatory. This implies that farmers who do not possess this ID may experience delays in receiving their 23rd installment. Without a Unique Farmer ID, farmers will no longer be able to avail themselves of the benefits of the scheme. This requirement has been made mandatory for farmers across several states. Through this ID, the government aims to ensure that the funds are deposited directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers.
