The 14th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) is being played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT). This match is being played on 8 April at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. There was some uncertainty over whether Gujarat captain Shubhman Gill would play in this match or not but now the curtain has been lifted on it. Gill has returned to the team and is also captaining the team. Delhi won the toss of this match and decided to bowl first.
Before this match, Gujarat Titans had played two matches in IPL 2026. The team had lost both these matches. Shubman Gill played in Gujarat’s first match against Punjab Kings, which the team lost. After this, the second match was lost against Rajasthan Royals. However, in the absence of Gill, Gujarat gave a tough fight to Rajasthan. While chasing the big target of 210 runs, the team was left behind by just 6 runs.
In this match, Shubman Gill has made a comeback in the team in place of Kumar Kushagra. After losing the toss, Gill said about his injury, ‘Now my neck is much better, it was a bit like what happened in the Test against South Africa.’ Let us tell you that Shubhman Gill had suffered a severe neck strain (spasm) during the first Test match played against South Africa in Kolkata in November 2025. Immediately after hitting the boundary, he felt pain and due to this he had to retire hurt and leave the field.
