According to Znewsciting SinchewHuang drew attention after sharing photos of himself cycling with his son, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Angelababy. The pair were dressed in matching outfits, with Huang riding a public rental bicycle while his son used a sports bike.
The post quickly triggered debate online, with netizens pointing out that Huang had violated traffic regulations. Under China’s Road Traffic Safety Law, children under 12 are not permitted to ride bicycles on public roads.
Amid the backlash, Huang deleted the post.
On Sunday evening, the actor issued a public apology, acknowledging his mistake.
“I would like to offer my sincere apologies for my carelessness,” he said, according to Maeil Business. “During the holiday, I went on a bike ride with my child. My intention was simply to enjoy nature, but only after reading your comments did I realize that I had overlooked the regulations.”
Huang said he felt guilty and acknowledged that he should have set a better example by prioritizing his child’s safety and compliance with the law.
“I would like to take this opportunity to share this with all parents. Just because a child knows how to ride a bicycle does not mean they can ride on the road,” he added. “Traffic safety does not allow even a moment of negligence, and following the rules is the greatest protection we can give our children.”
Huang also said he visited the traffic police office to accept a penalty but was asked to return later as it was the weekend.
Huang, 48, is one of China’s most prominent actors, known for leading roles in television dramas such as “The Return of the Condor Heroes,” “Shanghai Bund,” and “Summer’s Desire.”
He and Angelababy, 36, began dating publicly in 2014, married in 2015, and welcomed their son in 2017. The couple divorced in 2022.
Huang reportedly began a romantic relationship with 34-year-old influencer Ye Ke shortly afterward.
