A significant scandal involving sexual harassment, rape, and forced religious conversion has emerged from a major IT company in Nashik, Maharashtra. The local police have apprehended six team leaders in connection with this case, each facing various charges. Among them, one team leader is accused of rape, while the others are implicated in harassment and making derogatory remarks related to religion towards female colleagues.

Allegations Against Suspects

Reports indicate that suspects Taiseef Attar, Danish, Shahrukh Sheikh, and Raza Memon are accused of coercing a Hindu man into converting his religion. Allegations also include forcing the individual to pray during work hours and feeding him beef against his will. Disturbingly, images of the man post-conversion have surfaced.

Long-Standing Issues Ignored

According to police, these incidents have been occurring over the past four years. The affected women had previously submitted written complaints to the company's HR head under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, but no action was taken. One victim reported that when she disclosed the harassment, the HR head dismissed it as 'normal' in multinational companies, advising her to remain silent.

Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigation

Following the victims' complaints, the police have also filed a case against the HR head. Given the seriousness of the situation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established. Authorities suspect that there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward. The investigation team is exploring all angles and attempting to reach out to other potential victims. So far, the police have registered nine FIRs, eight of which are based on women's complaints, encompassing charges related to sexual offenses and religious discrimination.

Company's Workforce and Abuse of Power

The company employs around 300 staff members, with most of the arrested individuals holding team leader positions. Police have stated that the accused have been exploiting their positions to harass women for an extended period. The Nashik police are currently interrogating all suspects, and the investigation is ongoing. Should more victims come forward, the number of FIRs may increase.
