Amidst the ongoing tension between America, Israel and Iran, the round of meetings has intensified in Pakistan regarding possible ceasefire and peace talks. Shia religious leader and Vice President of Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Syed Mohsin Taqvi reacted on this issue.

He said that Pakistan’s stature in peace talks can be considered only when this peace talk is successful and it is able to play an important role. He said that the question of Nobel Prize is still far away.

While talking to news agency IANS, Syed Mohsin Taqvi said that increasing the stature of Pakistan can be talked about only when this peace talks are successful and Pakistan can play a concrete and effective role in it. At present, it is too early to say and only time will decide what outcome this initiative will yield.

He further said that in such international peace talks, merely hosting is not enough, but the real role lies with the country which finds the solution. In the current situation, Pakistan’s role seems to be limited and it is not yet clear how much influence it will be able to exert in this process.

On the question to Nobel Prize, Maulana Syed Mohsin Taqvi said that it is too early to have such a discussion.

He clarified that first of all it is necessary for the peace talks to be successful, only then any kind of honor or award can be considered. According to him, Pakistan’s role is currently limited only to the venue of talks. However, the political personalities there are definitely active to some extent.

He also said that a prestigious recognition like Nobel Prize requires a decisive and influential role of a country, which is not currently visible in this scenario, hence it is difficult to say that Pakistan will be able to get any such international honor for this initiative.
