The 20th match of IPL 2026 was a high-scoring encounter. The match was played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 20 April. In this match, Bengaluru scored a total of 240 runs. Mumbai fell behind in chasing the target and RCB won the match by 18 runs. This is Mumbai’s third consecutive defeat and RCB’s third win in IPL 2026.
After winning three out of four matches in IPL 2026, RCB has reached second place on the points table. Mumbai, on the other hand, is at number eight, having lost three of its four matches. In this match, while Virat Kohli scored a half-century, Rohit Sharma had to retire hurt due to a hamstring problem.
After losing the toss, RCB had to bat first but this decision completely went in their favor. The team scored 71 runs in the powerplay without losing any wicket, which was a tremendous start. Philip Salt scored the highest score of 78 runs for RCB. Apart from him, captain Rajat Patidar played a good inning of 53 runs, while Virat Kohli also added 50 runs. On the other hand, Bengaluru batsmen thrashed Mumbai bowlers and maintained their dominance throughout the match. Although Hardik Pandya, Mitchell Santner, Shardul Thakur and Trent Boult got 1 wicket each, yet all the Mumbai bowlers proved to be very expensive.
