This is the vile moment a 75-year-old grandmother was beaten to the ground after she asked a passer-by to clean up their dog mess. In horrendous scenes Linda Scott was pushed to the floor and struck with repeated blows and a kick to the head after she tried to remonstrate with the feckless dog owners.
Mrs Scott told News12 she was taken to hospital after the attack carried out in the front yard of her home which left her bleeding from her nose and mouth. A young woman in a bright pink hoodie carries out the majority of the attack on Mrs Scott which was caught on video by her doorball camera on Monday.
During the awful incident Mrs Scott can be seen trying to defend herself as a flurry of punches and kicks rain down on her. The attack eventually ends when her son races outside to see what is happening.
The shocked family of Mrs Scott said she suffered brusing to her face in the incident, but she is expected to make a full recovery. According to local US media, the New York Police Department said the attacker was still at large as of Friday April 10.
Speaking to News12 Mrs Scott said: "I tried to call 911. I think I had them on the open phone number, you know, but I couldn't do it because I just was shaking too much."
Mrs Scott, who lives in the Crown Heights area of New York, said that she was shocked by the ferocity of the attack, adding: "The young lady had no business beating me like that. No business beating me or any other older person like that. Anybody. Period."
Her son Michael Scott rushed to his mother's aid when he heard the commotion unfold outside.
He told News12: "The woman just came, sped, walked like she walked real fast, came up here and started punching my mother, knocked her to the ground, kicked her in the face.
"My mother was bleeding from her mouth and nose. I never seen my mother bleed a day in my life."
The Scott family said a vacant space nextdoor to their property has become a problem because dog owners let their pets defecate there and don't clean up after them. They are hopeful the owner of the space will install a fence.
Undeterred by her ordeal Mrs Scott said that "God willing" she was still going to be around "for a while" and that she had some "grandchildren to help take care of."
