Italy's Amalfi Coast is constantly listed as one of the most beautiful destinations across Europe. The stunning coastline, which stretches across southern Italy, welcomes around five million holidaymakers a year who go to enjoy the region's scenic views and hot weather.

However, with all its glamour and sunshine, it can often come at a hefty price tag. Fortunately, there is a way to experience comparable landscapes and balmy conditions without paying what can feel like a fortune. Introducing Sozopol, Bulgaria's hidden gem that is home to a ton of restaurants, sandy beaches, and blue skies.

Bulgaria has seen a huge increase in the number of travellers visiting the country. In fact, travel experts say that the Balkan nation is a great holiday destination for those looking for a break on a budget, reports Daily Mail

Laura Evans-Fisk, head of digital & engagement at eurochange, said: "Although Bulgaria has joined the euro, prices for things like food, accommodation and drinks are still particularly low compared to other popular holiday destinations like Greece, Spain and Italy.

"For example, you can expect to pay less than €2 (£1.74) for a beer and around €10 (£8.70) for a meal.

"And, Brits don't need to compromise on the beautiful scenery and beaches these popular hotspots offer. In fact, there are plenty of destinations in Bulgaria that are almost a "like for like" but at a fraction of the cost."

Sozopol ranked highly on Ms Evan-Fisk's list of the best Bulgarian 'destination dupes'. Just like the Italian Amalfi Coast, the seaside resort is perfect for those who prefer being away from large crowds.

The travel expert said that the town, which is one of Bulgaria's oldest, boast quaint wooden houses, cobbled streets, bright blue waters, and many cliff-edge restaurants.

She highlighted that Sozopol "has a really similar feel to the likes of Positano and Cinque Terre, in Italy's famous Riviera".

Temperatures in April generally reach 17C, providing ideal conditions for a range of activities.
