When will Amarnath Yatra 2026 start?

This year Amarnath Yatra will start from 3rd July 2026 and will continue till 28th August 2026 (Raksha Bandhan). Registration for this holy yatra which will last for a total of 57 days will be started from 15th April 2026. Devotees can register themselves through the official website of the Shrine Board as well as through the branches of PNB, SBI and Jammu and Kashmir Bank.

Religious importance of Amarnath Yatra

Amarnath Yatra is considered one of the most sacred and difficult journeys of Hindu religion. It is believed that in this cave, Lord Shiva told the secret of immortality to Mother Parvati. For this reason this place is called Amarnath. Every year an ice Shivalinga is naturally formed in this cave, which is called Baba Barfani. This Shivalinga increases and decreases according to the size of the moon, which makes it even more mysterious. According to religious beliefs, the devotee who completes this journey with full devotion and devotion, all his sins are destroyed and he attains salvation.
