Nadir Godrej, Chairman of Godrej Industries Group, is scheduled to retire in August 2026. The company announced this on Monday. After retirement, he will play the role of 'Chairman Emeritus' in the group. Since 1977, he has played a key role in growing this large group for many decades. The company said in a regulatory filing that Nadir will step down from the boards of Godrej Industries Limited, Godrej Agrovet, Godrej Consumer Products and Godrej Properties at that time. As part of generational succession planning, he has also resigned from the post of Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Astec Lifesciences. This decision will be effective from April 13, 2026.

Nadir Godrej said that it has been a privilege to serve Godrej Industries Group for many decades and work with wonderful colleagues who have built this organization with integrity and purpose. He further said that I am confident that under the leadership of the next generation this group will become even stronger, and at the same time will remain connected to its values.

Who will replace Nadir Godrej?

Post Nadir, Group Chairman Designate Pirojsha Godrej will take over as Chairman of Godrej Industries Group and Godrej Industries Limited with effect from August 14, 2026. He will also continue to serve as Chairman of Godrej Properties, Godrej Capital and Godrej Ventures. Describing this change as “a responsibility and a privilege”, Pirojsha said that we have inherited a wonderful legacy from generations. Now our job is to take this legacy forward with bigger goals, while at the same time staying true to the values ​​that are our identity.

Burjis Godrej will join the board

Burjis will take over the role of Chairman of Godrej Agrovet Unit and will join the Board of Godrej Industries as a Non-Executive Director with effect from August 14, 2026. He has resigned from the post of Managing Director of Astec Lifesciences with immediate effect, but will continue to serve as a non-executive director on its board. Our focus will be on building a stronger and more resilient Godrej Agrovet—where we will drive continued growth by improving the way we work across all our businesses. Amid a major leadership change at Godrej Industries Group, Godrej Chemicals CEO Vishal Sharma has been appointed Chairperson of Astec LifeSciences with immediate effect. Arijit Mukherjee, the current COO of Astec LifeSciences, will be appointed Executive Director.
