In a remarkable display, Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) pace bowling coach Varun Aaron commended debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain following their outstanding performance against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday. Their efforts contributed to a significant 57-run victory for SRH, with both bowlers claiming four wickets each.
Praful Hinge, aged 24, and 21-year-old Sakib Hussain replaced seasoned players Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat in the IPL 2026 match. Their bowling figures were impressive: Hinge took 4 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs, while Hussain achieved 4 wickets for 24 runs in the same number of overs.
During the post-match press conference, Aaron expressed his pride in the debutants, stating that their performance was a dream realized for the Hyderabad franchise. He remarked, "To witness two debutants bowl as they did tonight was truly a dream come true for the team."
Both Praful, from Vidarbha, and Sakib, from Bihar, made their mark in IPL history by achieving four-wicket hauls on their debut.
Praful Hinge made an immediate impact by dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a golden duck in the first over of RR's innings, followed by taking out Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, leaving RR at a precarious 1-3 after just one over. He later claimed the wicket of RR captain Riyan Parag in the third over.
Sakib Hussain also played a crucial role, taking the wickets of top-scorer Yashasvi Jaiswal, Donovan Ferreira, Jofra Archer, and Ravi Bishnoi, which helped SRH restrict RR to 159 runs in 19 overs.
Varun Aaron emphasized the importance of executing their game plan from the outset and encouraged the debutants to relish the experience. He noted, "The key was to commit to our execution, and we did that from the start. My only advice was to enjoy the game, as you only debut once in any format of cricket. Their achievements today are monumental considering their journey."
Earlier in the match, SRH set a formidable target of 216 runs, driven by captain Ishan's impressive 91 runs off 44 balls, supported by Heinrich Klaasen with 40 runs off 26 balls and Nitish Kumar Reddy contributing 28 runs off 13 balls.
