In the wake of recent violent protests by workers in Noida, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a revision in interim wage rates, effective from April 1, 2026.
As per the official order, the revised wages have been categorized into three groups: Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) and Ghaziabad, cities governed by municipal corporations, and the remaining districts of the state.
For Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, wages for unskilled workers have been increased from Rs 11,313 to Rs 13,690. Semi-skilled workers will now receive Rs 15,059, up from Rs 12,445, while skilled workers’ wages have been raised from Rs 13,940 to Rs 16,868.
In other municipal corporation areas, unskilled workers will earn Rs 13,006 instead of Rs 11,313. Semi-skilled workers’ wages have gone up from Rs 12,445 to Rs 14,306, and skilled workers will now receive Rs 16,025, compared to the earlier Rs 13,940.
The government also dismissed circulating social media claims suggesting that the minimum wage has been fixed at Rs 20,000 per month, calling them misleading and without any factual basis.
The decision to revise wages was taken late Monday night during a meeting of a high-level committee formed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
