Adrian Edmondson opened up about his recent weight loss to All Creatures Great and Small star Samuel West in their new bird-watching programme.
Adrian made the admission to Samuel during their new Channel 5 series, Sam & Ade Go Birding. Samuel has been a keen bird-watcher for over 20 years and has travelled the UK and the World to follow his passion. However, during his latest trips, he invited his mate Adrian Edmondson along for the ride.
The duo travelled to West Cornwall, where they searched for the Chough and hoped for exotic wind-blown foreign visitors. They went on a 'wild goose chase' in north Norfolk, and on the Somerset Levels they set out on a quest to find the elusive 'booming' Bittern.
During the first episode, which aired on Tuesday, Adrian and Samuel enjoyed a picnic, and during their chat, Adrian shared the reason for his recent weight loss, admitting he had lost half a stone.
As the duo tucked into two pears Adrian had grown himself, Samuel said, "You can just feel it is on the edge of going fizzy."
"Yeah," Adrian agreed before adding, "Speaking on the edge of fizzy. Shall I tell you my shameful secret?"
Samuel nodded as Adrian explained, "I'm on the pen.
"I started getting...I've had it for years, this kind of fizzy pins and needles in my leg.
"And of course, being a man, I didn't bother to tell the doctor about it. After 10 years, it was starting to impinge on my walking a bit, so I went to the doctor, and I was just too heavy, and it's got to go. So I've done three weeks of it so far."
"How's it going?" Samuel asked, to which Adrian replied, "I've lost half a stone. Bizarrely, my hats fit better."
"This hat I've had for years," he said as he pulled a hat out of his bag. "Exeter City hat, signed by Paul Tisdale, it hasn't fitted me for ages, and now it really does."
"You're losing weight on your head," Samuel joked as Adrian laughed, "I was becoming a fat head."
When asked how his weight loss journey was going, Adrian said, "You just don't feel hungry for very long."
Sam & Ade Go Birding is available to watch on My5.
