Mrunal Thakur has been gaining recognition in the film industry thanks to her impactful performances across various languages, including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. She recently appeared in the bilingual film Dacoit, which features Adivi Sesh and Anurag Kashyap in significant roles and has performed well at the box office.
In a recent interview, Mrunal expressed her disappointment regarding the final cut of Son Of Sardaar 2, which stars Ajay Devgn. She revealed that she was unaware of a senior actor portraying her estranged husband, which left her feeling unsettled. Mrunal stated, “There was a little bit of trust that was shaken. But you know what, I don’t have regrets.”
In the film, Mrunal plays Rabia Akhtar, while Chunky Panday takes on the role of her estranged husband, Danish. Ajay Devgn portrays Jassi, who is married to Dimple, played by Neeru Bajwa.
Additionally, Mrunal mentioned that several crucial scenes featuring her and Roshni Walia, who plays her stepdaughter Saba, were omitted from the final version of Son Of Sardaar 2. She believes these scenes would have enriched her character's narrative and highlighted her struggles. Unfortunately, the film did not perform well at the box office, failing to recoup its production budget of Rs 150 crore. It is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
Following the moderate success of Dacoit, Mrunal is set to star alongside Varun Dhawan in the upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. This will be her first project with Varun, directed by David Dhawan. The film also features Pooja Hegde, Mouni Roy, Chunky Panday, and Jimmy Shergill in pivotal roles. It is slated for release on May 22, 2026, and the first look teaser has already been unveiled. Stay tuned for further updates!
