How to Turn Off YouTube Shorts: The company has provided a new option for users who are frustrated with YouTube Shorts. If you do not wish to waste your time watching Shorts, you can use this option to permanently remove them from your YouTube experience. In fact, YouTube already offered an option to set a time limit for Shorts, but this feature has now been updated. Previously, the minimum time limit that could be set was 15 minutes; however, an option to set it to zero is now available. This allows you to turn off Shorts permanently. This feature has already begun rolling out to users.

Who Will Benefit from This Feature?

This feature is highly useful for those who are struggling to break their habit of watching Shorts. Additionally, parents now have a new method to help their children curb their habit of watching Shorts. If they choose to do so, they can set the time limit for Shorts to zero within the YouTube app, thereby disabling them completely. Once the time limit for Shorts is set to zero, Shorts will no longer appear in the feed, even when browsing through it. A pop-up message will appear to notify you that you have successfully set the time limit to zero.

Teen Accounts Cannot override the Limit.

If you are concerned that children might simply remove the time limit set for Shorts, rest assured—that will not be possible. This timer cannot be altered from "teen accounts" that are managed via Google Family Link. This provides parents with greater control, ensuring that children cannot bypass or modify this setting from their own accounts.

How to Set the Time Limit to Zero?

While YouTube has indeed provided the option to set a time limit for Shorts, the setting itself is somewhat hidden deep within the app's menus. To set this timer to zero, first open the YouTube app and tap on your profile icon. Next, tap on the settings icon visible here. Within this menu, you will find the 'Time Management' option. After tapping on it, scroll down to locate the 'Daily Shorts Feed Limit' option. Now, tap on the toggle switch located next to it. You will see several options listed here; select 'Zero minutes' from the list. In this way, you can successfully set a time limit for Shorts.
