Miami. Star footballer Lionel Messi has been sued by a Miami-based ‘event promoter’ who says the legendary player breached the terms of his $7 million contract by skipping an exhibition match last year.

Vid Music Group filed a lawsuit against Messi and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in Miami-Dade Circuit Court last month for fraud and breach of contract, according to court records. Messi and the AFA did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Messi is considered one of the greatest football players. He plays for both Major League Soccer club Inter Miami and the Argentina national team and fans often pay very high prices to see him play.

According to the lawsuit, Wied reached an agreement with the AFA last summer to arrange for Argentina to play in friendly matches against Venezuela and Puerto Rico. Wid claims that Messi had to play at least 30 minutes in each match, provided he was not injured. Messi did not play in the match against Venezuela.
