Income Tax Outreach Program Held in Dharamshala to Educate Non-Profits

On April 13, 2026, the Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions) office in Chandigarh conducted an Outreach Programme in Dharamshala aimed at informing non-profit organizations about the exemption provisions outlined in the Income Tax Act of 2025. The event also focused on addressing the practical challenges these institutions encounter.


The session was led by Sh. Debjyoti Das, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Delhi, who underscored the necessity for compliance among registered non-profit organizations to maintain their exemption benefits. He pointed out how such outreach efforts help bridge the communication gap between the tax department and the public.


Smt. Jaishree Sharma, Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Chandigarh, provided insights into the registration requirements under both the previous Act and the newly enacted Income Tax Act of 2025. She emphasized the importance of timely compliance to facilitate efficient decision-making by the Department.


The event saw enthusiastic participation from representatives of various trusts, societies, and professionals. An interactive session allowed attendees to pose questions, which were effectively addressed by the officials present.


This initiative successfully conveyed the recent amendments in the Act to stakeholders and reaffirmed the Department's dedication to enhancing governance, improving service delivery, and encouraging voluntary compliance in accordance with government policies.
