Indian cricket star Virat Kohli not only breaks records on the field but also grabs headlines off it, thanks to his social media activity. Recently, a simple Instagram like by Kohli on a photo of an obscure German model sparked a wave of discussion across India.

The photo in question was part of a “golden hour” photoshoot shared in January by renowned fashion photographer Adwait Vaidya, featuring German model Liz Laz. Recently, Adwait posted a screenshot of Kohli’s like on his Instagram story, expressing his amazement: “When the Goat, @virat.kohli .. Likes your Post.. me and @lizlaz_tv are still rubbing our eyes to check if it's actually happening.. haha.. Thank you Goat..”

Interestingly, Kohli does not follow the influencer on Instagram. The screenshot of his like quickly went viral, with users joking online. One fan commented, “Kohli liked this post. Looks like the algorithm needs another explanatory paragraph.”

The incident reminded fans of last year when Kohli liked a photo of actress Avneet Kaur, which had sparked a minor controversy. At that time, Kohli clarified, “While clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made.”

Social media users are now poking fun at the “algorithm” explanation again. One joked, “Anushka Sharma should now take the phone from Virat and hand it to their son Akaay, he must have liked it by mistake.” Others suggested that Kohli should create a “secret” account to browse Instagram peacefully.
