A furious crowd of protesters gathered as Donald Trump prepared to address a Turning Point USA event on Friday. Demonstrators lined the area outside Dream City Church in Phoenix ahead of the "Build the Red Wall" rally, hosted by conservative organisation Turning Point USA.
The event was due to feature President Trump, Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, and several Arizona Republican congressmen. Among those attending are Abe Hamadeh, Eli Crane, Andy Biggs, Juan Ciscomani and Paul Gosar. Footage and updates from the scene however show protesters chanting as rally-goers arrive at the venue. The official Frontlines TPUSA X account posted: HAPPENING NOW: "'No Kings!' "F**k Trump!" Protesters outside of Dream City Church continue to chant and harass attendees ahead of the 'Build The Red Wall' event where President Trump will be speaking."
Turning Point USA is a conservative political organisation founded in 2012. The group focuses mainly on young voters and students, particularly on college and high school campuses across the US.
It campaigns in favour of conservative values such as lower taxes, free markets, gun rights and limited government, while opposing progressive policies.
Turning Point USA has become closely associated with Donald Trump and many Republican politicians. It regularly hosts large rallies, conferences and voter outreach drives, including events such as "Build the Red Wall".
The US President Trump was expected to speak at around 2pm local time in Phoenix, equivalent to 10pm BST.
Attendees were admitted on a first come, first served basis, but were required to verify their voter registration status before being allowed into the venue.
The event is seen as part of a wider Republican voter outreach drive ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Outside the church, merchandise stalls had also been set up as Trump supporters gathered for the rally.
Protesters were reported to have screamed and "flipped off" President Trump's motorcade as he pulled into Dream City Church, Frontlines TPUSA adds. They were of accused "taunting" police officers and harassing a man wearing a MAGA hat.
Turning Point USA plans to strengthen support for Republican candidates in key battleground states including Arizona, New Hampshire and Nevada.
The strategy was outlined by Turning Point USA chief executive and chair Erika Kirk during the organisation's AmericaFest conference in downtown Phoenix in December.
Erika Kirk said the group was already focused on both the 2026 and 2028 election cycles and was investing heavily in individual states rather than just specific races.
