The 131st Amendment Bill of the Constitution could not be passed in the Lok Sabha on Friday. After which there has been a political turmoil in the country. BJP is continuously attacking the opposition. Meanwhile, on Saturday, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hit back at the BJP by holding a press conference. Addressing the media, Priyanka Gandhi clearly said that what happened yesterday was a huge victory for democracy.
Not only this, Priyanka Gandhi attacked BJP and termed the current situation as a ‘black day’ for the government. He clearly warned that now the public cannot be kept in the dark any longer with the help of advertisements and media glare alone. Also said that I think it is a conspiracy that somehow they have to remain in power. So to achieve this, they are planning to use women to remain in power forever.
Priyanka Gandhi said that we have protected democracy. We have foiled the conspiracy of Modi government regarding demarcation. The Modi government did nothing on the Women’s Reservation Bill for three years and issued a notification just two days ago, so it should implement it. We stand in full support of women’s reservation. The entire opposition is unanimous that the previous women’s reservation bill should be implemented. But the way the Modi government has presented it and the conspiracy it has hatched against democracy, we can never support it.
Priyanka Gandhi has also made a sharp attack by mentioning the statements of Modi-Shah in the press conference. He said that the Home Minister and the Prime Minister said in their respective speeches that if the opposition does not agree on this issue, it will never be able to win the elections, nor will it be able to come to power. It becomes clear from these things what was the intention of the government.
Priyanka further said, the purpose of the conspiracy hatched by the government was to gain power. For this the government used women. The government wanted the opposition to pass this bill under the guise of women’s reservation, so that they get the freedom to demarcate as per their wish and the Modi government does not have to depend on caste-based census.
The Congress MP said, the Modi government believed that if the bill was passed, it would be their victory, and if the bill was not passed, they would call the opposition anti-women. BJP wanted to do this to prove itself as the messiah of women.
The Congress MP said that it was not about the women’s reservation bill. It was to demarcation. The Modi government had to do the demarcation on this basis, in which it would not need to look at the caste census data and it would have complete freedom to do as per its wish. In such a situation, it was not possible for the opposition to support the Modi government. The entire country has seen how the Modi government is defeated when the opposition is united.
Priyanka Gandhi further said that the people of the country are aware, the government cannot mislead them. The people of India are seeing that the Modi government is dependent only on media propaganda, and crores of rupees are being spent on it. Amit Shah was saying yesterday to trust us, but the reality is that people have already lost faith in this government.
