In Madhya Pradesh, distressing news has emerged from two different districts following the announcement of board exam results. Two students, disheartened by failing their 10th and 12th-grade exams, took drastic actions. One student hanged herself, while another shot himself.
While many students celebrated their success in the board examinations, for some families, the day turned tragic. The shock of failing proved too much for two students, leading one to take her life by hanging and the other to commit suicide with a firearm. These incidents have sent shockwaves throughout the state.
These tragedies highlight not just the sorrow of two families but also the increasing pressure students face regarding exams and results. The notion that failure equates to the end of the road can have dire consequences, as these events have starkly illustrated.
The first incident occurred in Mohan Nagar, located in the Parasia area of Chhindwara district. Here, 17-year-old Saniya received her 10th-grade results, failing in three subjects.
Upon seeing her results, Saniya immediately went to the bathroom and locked the door. When she did not come out after a long time, her family broke down the door, only to find her hanging. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was pronounced dead.
The second incident took place in Morena district, where 20-year-old Hrithik Dandoti failed all subjects in his 12th-grade exams, leaving him deeply troubled.
After viewing his results, Hrithik went to Kotwal Dam, where he tragically shot himself with a local firearm. Nearby individuals heard the gunshot and rushed to the scene, alerting the police, but it was too late to save him.
These incidents serve as a reminder that failing an exam is not the end of life. The rising mental pressure on students is becoming a significant issue that needs to be understood and managed promptly. It is the responsibility of families and society to empower children to overcome failure, ensuring that no one feels compelled to take such drastic measures.
