Court Sentences Man to Life Imprisonment for Acid Attack on Minor in Ajmer

In a tragic incident in Ajmer, Rajasthan, a court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for an acid attack on a 12-year-old girl. The attack resulted in the loss of one of the girl's eyes and severe burns to her face.


Details of the Incident

The horrifying event took place on April 25, 2025, when the victim, Mojbi, was standing with her mother, Henbi, at the Chittorgarh railway station. The accused, Mohammad Ismail, arrived with a bottle of acid intending to attack Henbi. However, Mojbi intervened to protect her mother, leading to the acid being thrown on her face instead.


Consequences of the Attack

The acid caused severe burns and injuries to Mojbi's face, resulting in permanent damage to her eye. When Henbi attempted to save her daughter, the attacker also splashed acid on her, causing injuries to her as well. Although the assailant fled the scene, he was later apprehended by the police.


Medical Report Findings

According to the medical report, only 2-4% of Mojbi's body was affected, as the acid primarily impacted her face. However, the scars and eye damage will have lifelong repercussions.


Court's Remarks

During the sentencing, Judge Uttama Mathur expressed strong emotions, stating that the acid attack was not merely an assault on a child but a brutal attack on the soul of civilized society and humanity. The judge emphasized that the face is a crucial part of a person's identity and dignity, and the accused's intention was to inflict not just physical harm but lifelong psychological trauma. The court imposed a life sentence on Mohammad Ismail along with a fine of two lakh rupees.
