What is Internet Load Shedding: At present, Pakistan is facing not only electricity crisis but also digital crisis. The effect of prolonged power cuts in the country is now clearly visible on internet and mobile services. This situation is being called Internet load shedding, in which the network comes to a complete or partial halt. According to reports, problems like call drops and slow internet are increasing rapidly due to closure of mobile towers. This is directly affecting the everyday life of common people.
Internet load shedding is a situation when there is power cut without notice for a long time and it directly impacts telecom services. When there is no electricity, mobile towers are unable to function properly and the network becomes weak or stops completely. According to the report of Pakistan's Shama TV, the same situation is being seen in Pakistan where internet services are being disrupted due to continuous power cuts. According to the report, telecom companies are not able to even use diesel to run the towers because oil prices have become very high. This is having a serious impact on digital connectivity.
Due to internet load shedding in Pakistan, the problem of call drops and slow internet has increased rapidly. Many users say that their calls get disconnected repeatedly and the internet speed has become very slow. Many times the network shuts down completely due to which people are unable to use the internet for hours. This problem is more serious especially in rural areas where the network is already weak. According to the report, 5G services have not started yet, due to which there is more pressure on the existing network and power cuts have made the situation worse.
According to reports, most mobile towers in Pakistan have power backup of only 2 to 6 hours, while power cuts last longer than that. Many towers do not have any backup, due to which the network shuts down as soon as the power goes out. To deal with this problem, generators and diesel are used, but in recent times the huge increase in oil prices has made this also difficult. It is becoming expensive for telecom companies to run generators continuously, due to which it is not possible to keep the network running 24 hours. This is the reason why along with electricity, the internet crisis is also deepening in Pakistan.
