President Donald Trump said that the US team will go to Pakistan on Monday for the second round of Iran peace talks. After this announcement by Trump, the hope of extending the fragile ceasefire which is expected to end by Wednesday has increased, while the standoff between Washington and Tehran on the Strait of Hormuz still continues. With this announcement, Trump has also threatened Iran that if Iran does not accept his proposal, he will again target its infrastructure.

Iran has not yet confirmed the talks, but its chief negotiator, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said in an interview shown on state television late Saturday that there would be no retreat in diplomacy, while acknowledging that there was still a huge gap between the two sides. The White House said that Vice President JD Vance is leading the delegation going to Islamabad talks. Along with Vance, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are also included in the delegation to Pakistan. All three of them also participated in the first round of talks.

Tight security arrangements in Islamabad

Pakistani authorities have started tightening security in Islamabad. A regional official involved in this effort said that preparations for mediation are being finalized and America's advanced security teams have already come to Pakistan.

Iran received a new proposal from America

Iran said on Saturday that it had received new proposals from America. However, it is not clear whether both the sides have changed their stand on the issues due to which the previous round of talks had derailed. These issues include Iran's nuclear enrichment program, its regional proxies and control over the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump has again reiterated his threats against Iranian infrastructure. After which he has been criticized a lot and warned of war crimes. Trump wrote, “If Iran does not agree to the deal proposed by America, then America will demolish every single power plant and every single bridge in Iran.”
