A customer was shocked after he saw a cockroach crawling over pastries at a cafe in Changi Airport.
In a TikTok video uploaded on April 10, user Mozzarellapapi said he had planned to eat at Paul Singapore in Terminal 1 but chose to leave after seeing the insect, AsiaOne reported. “There was a freaking cockroach crawling all over the croissants,” he said.

The footage shows him zooming in on a croissant in the display case as a small cockroach moves slowly across the surface.
“There’s a cockroach inside,” he tells a staff member, who then reaches in to check. The insect is later seen crawling along the glass of the display case.
He ends the video by saying he left the shop, with a visibly disgusted expression. The video has since attracted more than 120,000 views.
Many viewers expressed shock and concern over the potential health risk. “As an immunocompromised person, this scares me even more to eat outside,” one user commented.
“It’s a baby cockroach. Means there’s more somewhere,” another wrote.
According to local outlet MS Newsa spokesperson for Paul Singapore said the company was aware of the incident and apologised to its customers. “Upon receiving feedback from the customer on April 9, staff cleared and disposed of all items from the affected counter and carried out a thorough cleaning of the area,” it said.
“As a precautionary measure, a comprehensive pest control treatment took place on 11 April, during which all food items in the outlet were disposed of in the interest of food safety.”
The cafe was also temporarily closed from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. to allow for another round of deep cleaning.
The Singapore Food Agency said it is investigating the incident. “SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices. Should sufficient evidence be obtained, the SFA will not hesitate to take enforcement action,” it said.
