Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to call a special session of the legislature on April 30 on the issue of women's reservation. In this session, the government will not only clarify its position, but will also make a strategy to strengthen the preparations for the 2027 assembly elections by adopting an attacking stance against the opposition.
To call a session, it is mandatory to give notice to the members at least seven days in advance. Therefore, on Sunday, the cabinet approved the proposal through by-circulation. Now this proposal will be sent to the Governor on Monday.
In fact, the opposition is already counting the shortcomings of the government regarding the provisions of the Women's Reservation Bill. At the same time, BJP is now preparing to turn this issue in its favor and corner the opposition from Parliament to Assembly. According to sources, there is also a discussion going on to bring a motion condemning the attitude of the opposition during the special session.
The government believes that this session will not be limited to legislative proceedings only. This will become a platform for direct political confrontation between the ruling party and the opposition, where both the parties will try their best to give a message to the public as per their respective strategies.
After the unity of the opposition at the Center regarding the Women's Reservation Delimitation Bill and the bill not being passed in the Parliament, now the political turmoil has intensified at the state level also. BJP is considering this as an opportunity to strengthen its image among the public for the 2027 assembly elections. The opposition is calling it a part of BJP's divisive politics.
The special session of April 30 is being held at a time when there is a debate going on in the entire country regarding women's reservation.
