A traveller played dead on the floor at Kunming Changshui International Airport in China after refusing to pay an excess baggage fee
The incident occurred on April 11 at a boarding gate for a Spring Airlines flight, a low-cost carrier known for strict baggage policies, the Daily Star reported.
A video shared on Chinese social media shows the argument starting after airport staff told the woman’s family of five to pay extra for overweight luggage. When they refused, the confrontation quickly escalated.

In the video, a middle-aged woman suddenly fell to the floor and lay motionless as if unconscious. As staff tried to stop her family members from passing through the gate, she remained in the walkway, blocking other passengers. She later rolled and kicked toward staff while still lying on the floor.
One of her family members allegedly kicked a staff member while the children traveling with them were left crying in the middle of the terminal.
Other passengers were forced to move around the woman on the floor to get to their flights.
The incident drew widespread criticism on social media, with many calling for the family to be placed on a national no-fly list for their behavior.
According to local media, authorities at the airport said police were called to handle the disturbance but no specific charges against the family were announced.
According to the Daily Mailbaggage disputes have led to similar incidents before.
In 2025, a passenger in the U.K. said she was barred from boarding an easyJet flight after an argument over her carry-on, despite claiming her bag fit within the airline’s size limits.
In another case involving Ryanair, a passenger was fined £75 (US$100) for a carry-on he had already paid for.
