Research Funding: Financial assistance will now be available for studies and research publications in Indian languages. Until now, the system for publishing research papers has been limited exclusively to the English language. The objective behind offering this opportunity—under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020—is to promote Indian languages, thereby enabling young scholars to effectively present their research papers in their own native tongues.
Professor Yogesh Singh, Acting Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), announced that technical colleges will receive ₹2 lakh in funding for organizing seminars, conferences, and workshops in regional languages. Furthermore, the AICTE will provide a total of ₹4 crore to various institutions specifically for the promotion and dissemination of Indian and regional languages.
To this end, the AICTE has launched the third edition of the 'AICTE-VANI' (Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages) scheme. The initiative aims to make the latest technological advancements accessible in local languages and to establish a robust knowledge base within regional linguistic contexts. By encouraging the publication of research papers in regional languages, this initiative seeks to foster greater collaboration between academic institutions and industries.
**Up to ₹4 Crore Available Annually**
Under this scheme, financial assistance amounting to ₹4 crore will be provided annually. Building upon the success of the first two editions, a plan has now been formulated to provide financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each to 200 institutions for organizing conferences. This assistance will be granted to every selected institution. These programs will span a duration of two to three days and will be conducted in 22 regional languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Urdu.
