Logistics service provider Borzo has appointed Darryl Dias as its new country head for India, ahead of plans to go deeper into cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi and the National Capital Region while maintaining unit economics.
Borzo operates in 23 cities across India, providing intracity logistics for individuals and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). While Mumbai currently generates 75-80% of its domestic volume, the company plans to go deeper into other metros.
On the expansion, Dias stated, "We'll continue to hold our foot here, but we also want to expand into growth cities such as Delhi and Bangalore in the next few quarters... our focus would be to maintain profitable growth by improving our unit economics."
India accounts for 65% of the company's global gross merchandise value (GMV) and 75% of its total deliveries. Dias will lead the India business unit, focusing on growth and operational expansion within the on-demand delivery sector.
Currently, Borzo has 40,000 monthly active delivery partners.
On market share, Dias said, “We are the largest when it comes to this segment [rapid delivery] right now. We're just going to put blinkers on, focus on execution, make sure that it's profitable growth and scale without burning cash".
Dias has 15 years of experience in operations, strategy, and product development and had earlier cofounded EV company Magenta Mobility.
Borzo competes with the likes of Porter, Delhivery Direct, Rapido Parcel and others.
