In Ayurveda, burning sensation, heaviness or stickiness in the eyes has been linked to bile in the body. Imbalance of Pitta has a deep impact on the eyes. Ayurveda believes that this is not just a symptom of lack of sleep but a sign of increase in bile and toxins inside the body. Due to excess of bile in the body, heat and irritation increases in the body, which affects the eyes only.
Apart from this, watching the screen late, excessive use of mobile, lack of sleep, feeling more pressure on the liver can also be the main reasons behind this.
Ayurveda believes that the eyes are connected to the Pitta of the body, and Pitta to the blood of the body, and blood to digestion and the liver. Pressure on the liver affects digestion, digestion affects blood, and blood affects bile. Overall, all these things work together in the body, and its effect is visible on the eyes.
Now the question is what to do to get relief from this. For this, eat light food at night, wash your eyes with cold water as soon as you wake up in the morning, clean your eyes with Triphala water twice a day, give comfort to your eyes with cold cucumber, and reduce screen time.
Along with this, include vitamins A, C, and E in the diet. Include foods like amla, pomegranate, carrot, sweet potato, pumpkin, papaya, milk, and eggs. This diet helps in reducing eye fatigue.
