Mobile gaming startup Spill Games has raised $3.1 Mn (around ₹28 Cr) in its seed funding round co-led by Centre Court Capital and PeerCapital, along with participation from existing backer All In Capital.
The Bengaluru-based startup plans to deploy the fresh capital to power customer acquisition, brand building as well as expanding its team.
Founded in 2024 by by Om Misra, Tapan Ranjan, and Harsh Garg, Spill Games operates in the casual and puzzle gaming segment, with a portfolio of five games including Cozy Finds, Sticker by Number, Zen Math Crossword, Bird Rescue Jam, and Grill Master.
Speaking to Inc42, Ranjan said that Spill Games builds games based on strong initial hypotheses before quickly launching them. The startup then relies on real player feedback and in-game data to refine the experience over a period of time.
“If you take too long to ship, you lose valuable time to learn—players can’t give feedback until they actually experience the game. That’s why speed matters for us,” Ranjan said.
Without disclosing the exact financial figures, Ranjan said that the startup’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) for the month of February stood at $1.5 Mn. Around 50% of its users come from the US, followed by Brazil (15%) and Japan (10%).
The startup currently earns revenue via in-game advertising and in-app purchases. Going forward, Spill Games is aiming to test over 20 prototypes in the next 18 months and targets launching 5-10 profitable new titles.
Spill Games’ raise comes at a time when the Indian gaming segment is seeing a rather lukewarm phase of growth.
The segment has seen a major burn after the government put a ban on real-money gaming in India. The bloodbath saw major gaming giants includingGames 24×7, Junglee Rummy, Head Digital Works, among others shutting down their RMG arms.
Post RMG ban, the industry looks to be bullish on mobile gaming, interactive media, and AI-native gaming infrastructure. Speaking about the sector, gaming giant NODWIN is lookingto raise $100 Mn in a pre-IPO round.
