Washington: Amidst the clouds of war looming over the world, a news has come which has increased everyone’s heartbeat. Amidst the ongoing tension between America and Iran, President Donald Trump has taken a big and shocking decision. Trump has announced to extend the ongoing ceasefire with Iran.
This decision was taken when only a few hours were left for the old ceasefire to expire. With this step of Trump, the danger of a world war has been averted for the time being, but the warning hidden behind this hope of peace has given Iran sleepless nights. Trump has bluntly said that Iran is now only trying to ‘save its honour’.
Donald Trump on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’ made a direct attack on Iran’s Achilles heel i.e. its economy. Trump wrote that Iran would never want the ‘Strait of Hormuz’ to be closed. He knows that Iran earns 500 million dollars from here every day. Trump claimed that he has blocked this route to such an extent that Iran’s economic condition has become critical. According to Trump, Iran is threatening to shut it down just for show.
Trump made a sensational revelation in his post and directly targeted the top leadership of Iran. He told that a few days ago some people had come to him who wanted America to immediately open this sea route. On this, Trump took a tough stance and said, “If we open it now, there will never be a solid deal with Iran.” He further said in a very aggressive tone that no agreement is possible until he blows up the entire country of Iran including its leaders. This statement is being considered as a direct and deadly ultimatum to the supreme leadership of Iran.
An interesting twist in this entire incident came when Trump accused Pakistan of being behind the extension of ceasefire. According to Trump, Iran’s government is currently torn internally. Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had personally requested Trump to extend the ceasefire period. After this mediation, Trump has decided not to attack for now, but the condition is that Iran’s leaders unanimously put forward a concrete proposal.
Amidst Iran’s internal strife and America’s tough stance, the international community has heaved a sigh of relief for the time being. With this decision, the turmoil in oil prices in the global market and diplomatic corridors has calmed down a bit. However, the American grip on the Strait of Hormuz is still tight, which is acting like ‘slow poison’ for Iran’s economy. Now the eyes of the whole world are on Tehran whether it bows down and compromises or chooses the path of destruction.
