A major shift is on the horizon in the world of messaging. WhatsApp is gearing up to introduce a feature that will allow users to view a comprehensive summary of their unread messages without having to open each individual chat. This means that if you have dozens of messages piling up, the hassle of reading them one by one could soon be a thing of the past. This new AI-based feature promises to be a game-changer, particularly for users who deal with a heavy volume of messages on a daily basis.
AI to Generate Summaries for All Messages
According to reports, Meta is further enhancing its AI systems. Until now, WhatsApp offered a summary feature for individual chats; however, the new update is expected to introduce the capability to generate summaries for multiple chats simultaneously.
This will enable users to access essential information instantly, thereby saving valuable time.
New Option to Appear in the ‘Unread’ Tab
With this new feature, when you select the ‘Unread’ filter within the chat section, a button labeled “Get a summary” will appear at the top of the screen.
Tapping this button will instantly generate a concise and easy-to-read summary of all your unread chats. This will allow users to grasp the key points of their conversations without needing to open every single chat.
How Does the Feature Work Currently?
Currently, if a user wishes to view a summary of a specific chat, they must open that chat and then select the ‘Summarize’ option.
The AI then processes and condenses the entire conversation within that chat into a brief summary. However, the upcoming update will streamline this process, making it both faster and more convenient.
Special Focus on Privacy
WhatsApp is utilizing “Private Processing” technology for this feature.
This ensures that user messages are processed while remaining fully secure and private. The company asserts that there will be absolutely no compromise on data confidentiality.
When Can Users Expect the New Update?
Details regarding this feature were first shared by WABetaInfo. According to their report, the feature is currently in the development phase and is expected to become available for testing on both iOS and Android platforms very soon.
It is anticipated that the feature will be rolled out to beta testers—and subsequently to all users—in the coming months.
