This feature was rolled out recently and will soon become available to all WhatsApp users across India.

WhatsApp’s New Feature

WhatsApp was launched in 2009. Over the past 25 years, this instant messaging platform has garnered immense popularity worldwide. In India alone, WhatsApp boasts tens of millions of active users. A few years ago, the platform also launched its UPI-based payment service, ‘WhatsApp Money.’ Now, users will also gain the ability to recharge their mobile phones directly through WhatsApp. This feature has been rolled out for users on both Android and iOS platforms.

First, to utilize this feature, you must install the latest update for the WhatsApp app on your phone.

  • After updating the app, launch WhatsApp.
  • Once the app opens, tap on the ‘₹’ icon visible on the home screen.
  • Next, navigate to the ‘Mobile Prepaid Recharge’ section.
  • You will then need to enter the mobile number and select the corresponding telecom operator.
  • You can also select a mobile number directly from your contact list.
  • After entering the number and operator details, choose a recharge plan and select your preferred payment option.
  • Proceed to complete the payment using your preferred payment app.
  • Once the transaction is complete, your mobile number will be recharged.

The standout feature of this WhatsApp service is that you do not need to exit the app; you can conveniently recharge your mobile phone even while you are in the middle of a chat conversation.
