INDIA-UK Strategic Dialogue: Ajit Doval meets Britain’s NSA, emphasizes on increasing defense partnership

An important meeting has been held to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and the United Kingdom (UK). National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval hosted his British counterpart Jonathan Powell in New Delhi on April 23. This meeting was organized annually under the India-UK Strategic Dialogue.

Giving information, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that wide-ranging issues were discussed between the two sides. In which emphasis was laid on taking forward the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, strengthening defense and security cooperation was discussed and regional and global security challenges were also discussed.

What is the importance of the meeting?

According to experts, such high-level talks play an important role in increasing trust and cooperation between the two countries, especially in the changing global situation, such meetings become more important. This dialogue between India and UK is being considered to give a new direction to defence, security and strategic partnership in the coming times.

Roadmap based on India-UK Vision 2035

A roadmap has been made for the strengthening of relations between India and Britain, which is a decade-long plan with India-UK Vision 2035. Wants to take bilateral relations beyond the traditional buyer-seller relationship towards a deep strategic partnership.

This partnership will be based on co-design, co-development and joint production of advanced military technology with a focus on areas such as aerospace, naval propulsion, underwater systems and cyber security, and will also support New Delhi's Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Such meetings show India's mission in which India is spreading its influence all over the world and is avoiding joining any one group. India has taken many steps in recent times to improve relations with western countries. Besides, India is also strengthening its relations with Gulf countries and Russia.
