The highly anticipated biopic of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, premiered globally today (April 24). In India, select theaters hosted special screenings on Thursday. Allu Arjun, currently filming for Raaka, made time to catch the biopic, visiting a theater in Hyderabad to watch it alongside fans. Photos from the event quickly gained traction on social media, showcasing the top row of the theater reserved for him. The last film he reviewed was Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 back in March, and now his followers eagerly await his thoughts on this latest film.

Interestingly, Allu Arjun was once considered a leading candidate to portray Michael Jackson in a biopic envisioned by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Known as the Indian Michael Jackson among his Telugu fans, Arjun was excited about the project, which has since been shelved.

In a 2024 interview with Galatta, Sandeep discussed the complexities involved in bringing Jackson's life story to the screen. He highlighted the challenges of capturing the essence of Jackson's life, from his early days singing in school to the controversies surrounding his skin color changes. Sandeep described the project as a tricky yet dream endeavor.

The biopic, titled Michael, is helmed by director Antoine Fuqua. The film aims to provide a cinematic representation of the life and legacy of one of the most significant artists in history. It chronicles Michael Jackson's journey from his early days with the Jackson Five to his evolution into a global entertainment icon. The narrative explores both his personal life and some of his most memorable performances, offering audiences an unprecedented glimpse into his world.

Jaafar Jackson stars as Michael, with Colman Domingo and Nia Long portraying his parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson. The cast also includes Miles Teller as John Branca, Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy, Laura Harrier as Suzanne de Passe, and Kat Graham as Diana Ross.
