The Princess of Wales and those closest to her have experienced quite an eventful year.

Having completed her cancer treatment, Catherine and her family made the move from Adelaide Cottage to Forest Lodge in Windsor last year, as she steadily returns to her full programme of royal engagements.

Cast your mind back to May 2023, however, and the Royal Family was preparing for one of the most significant and historic occasions in recent memory - the Coronation of King Charles.

The momentous event required months of meticulous planning to ensure a flawless celebration.

While Charles and Queen Camilla were the central figures, the Prince and Princess of Wales were equally vital to proceedings on that landmark day last May, with both wholly committed to ensuring the Coronation passed without a hitch, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A lip reader has revealed that Catherine issued an anxious four-word warning to Prince William ahead of the ceremony in a bid to avert any potential difficulties.

This happened as the pair made their way into Westminster Abbey with their children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, taking part in the procession that preceded King Charles and Queen Camilla's coronation.

Both were dressed in ceremonial robes, with Kate resplendent in her Royal Victorian Order mantle and William adorned in his Order of the Garter mantle.

Footage captured the moment the pair took their positions in readiness for the procession to commence, with William and Catherine seem exchanging words with one another.

It seems the princess expressed a concern to her husband before they commenced the lengthy procession into the Abbey.

Professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman told the Daily Star that Catherine turned to William and said "Just mind the gown".

He suggests the future monarch replied with reassurance, stating: "Don't worry I got [or caught] it."

Fortunately, the Coronation service proceeded without incident, with no difficulties arising from the ceremonial robes during the procession.

Nevertheless, when the official Coronation photographs were published, one peculiar detail on Catherine's outfit sent Royal enthusiasts into overdrive.

Her robe largely concealed her stunning Alexander McQueen gown, though she opted to remove the mantle for the official portraits.

However, sharp-eyed Royal observers noted that the V-shaped neckline of the dress in the official photograph appeared different from the round neck visible at the Abbey.

This prompted online conjecture that the princess may have ordered two dresses, despite the embroidery on the skirt remaining identical.

The mystery surrounding the dress's neckline seems to have been solved, and it might all be explained by an additional garment.

Royal commentator and expert Alastair Bruce, speaking on Sky News, revealed that Catherine wore an extra cape over her gown to safeguard it from the substantial mantle and chains she was required to wear.

It appears that for the official Coronation photographs, Catherine opted to remove the cape, unveiling the intricate V-shaped neckline, which provided the perfect setting for the George VI Festoon necklace, gifted to the late Queen Elizabeth in 1950.

The McQueen gown was crafted from ivory silk crepe, embellished with silver bullion and threadwork embroidery incorporating rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs, each symbolising one of the four nations.

Her ensemble was finished with a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen headpiece, decorated with silver bullion, crystal and silver threadwork three-dimensional leaf embroidery.
