Bengaluru: A case has been registered at HSR Layout Police Station against a woman and a jewellery shop owner for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 2 crore by promising to provide gold jewellery at a lower price.

The complainant, K.V. Puneeth Kumar, a farmer from Kommasandra, had planned to purchase gold. He informed his acquaintance Savita about it. She allegedly told him that she knew a jewellery shop where gold could be bought at a lower price with reduced making charges and no wastage.

On March 27, Savita took Puneeth to a jewellery shop in HSR Layout. Puneeth went there in a car carrying ₹2 crore. Savita allegedly collected the cash from him and asked him not to come until she informed him.

After some time, the shop owner, identified as Indra, called Puneeth and confirmed that the money was received. He told Puneeth to go for lunch and said the jewellery would be shown later. When Puneeth returned after lunch, Indra reportedly said he had stepped out for work and asked him to come the next day.

The next day, the accused allegedly delayed the process, citing personal reasons. When questioned, Savita assured Puneeth that the shop owner was trustworthy and that the gold would be arranged.

However, when no jewellery was delivered, Puneeth grew suspicious and visited the shop again. He questioned the staff, but did not receive clear answers. Realising he had been cheated, he approached the police and filed a complaint.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
