International flights from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Airport will resume on Saturday, the ISNA news agency reported, marking a further step in Iran’s phased reopening of its airspace after weeks of disruption due to the US-Israeli war that began on February 28.

The first routes to restart operations will connect Tehran with Istanbul and Muscat, as authorities begin restoring global air links in a controlled manner. Iran had shut its airspace during the conflict and is reopening it gradually under a ceasefire framework.

The move follows earlier decisions to resume operations at key airports across the country. Officials had said last week that Mashhad Airport, serving Iran’s second-largest city in the northeast, would reopen on Monday. Flight tracking data on Friday showed at least two international departures from Mashhad to Turkey and Oman, indicating early signs of recovery in cross-border travel.

Iran has been reopening its aviation network in stages, with passenger services gradually resuming at major hubs including Tehran’s main airports.
