Mercedes-Benz has launched the new-generation CLA, but this time it comes in a BEV avatar while being imported into India. That said, despite being imported, the pricing is very aggressive, starting at Rs 55 lakh.
The CLA comes with two battery packs: 200 Standard Range and 250+ Long Range. The Rs 55 lakh price is for the CLA 200, which comes with different styling and a smaller 58kWh battery with a claimed range of 542km. It has a 224hp and 335Nm rear electric motor.

The other CLA comes with the larger battery pack, which is the 250+ Long Range variant. It features an 85kWh NMC battery along with a claimed range of up to 792km. The rear electric motor here develops 272hp and 335Nm. There is also the 800V electrical architecture, which enables much faster charging.
The CLA also comes with plenty of technology, including Google built-in, AI features, and more. Importantly, the ground clearance has been raised for India. The feature list includes a large 14-inch touchscreen, Burmester audio, a glass roof with a heat protection layer, park assist, a 360-degree camera, heated and massage seats, dual-zone climate control, and more.

The question is whether it is worth getting one. The pricing is aggressive considering the quality, looks, and the range. The CLA, though, is more of a self-driven option rather than a chauffeur-driven car, with the rear seat lacking some space.
The range of the 250+ is excellent at this price point, while it is aimed towards a younger set of buyers not looking for space. Other EV SUVs at this price are more practical, but the CLA looks more attractive and the interior feels more special.
