Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off one of the most thrilling run-chases of the season, chasing down a daunting 229 to defeat Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in their IPL 2026 clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday.

In pursuit of the massive target, SRH were powered by a blistering knock from Ishan Kishan, who smashed 74 off just 31 deliveries, including 11 fours and three sixes. He was well supported by Abhishek Sharma, who struck a rapid 57 off 29 balls. The duo’s commanding 132-run partnership for the second wicket laid the foundation for the chase.

Despite losing Travis Head early, Hyderabad dominated the powerplay, racing to 89 runs in six overs and putting Rajasthan’s bowlers under immediate pressure. Contributions from the middle order kept the momentum alive, with Nitish Kumar Reddy scoring a quickfire 36 off 18 balls and Heinrich Klaasen adding 29.

Although a couple of late wickets briefly slowed things down, Salil Arora ensured there were no further hiccups, finishing the match with an unbeaten cameo as SRH sealed victory in just 18.3 overs.

For Rajasthan Royals, Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma picked up two wickets each, but the rest of the bowling unit struggled to stem the flow of runs.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals posted a formidable 228 for six after being asked to bat first, thanks to a sensational century from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The young batter smashed 103 off just 37 balls — one of the fastest hundreds in IPL history — hammering 12 sixes and five fours to propel his side to a record total at the venue.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s early departure for 10, Sooryavanshi took control, at one point racing to 30 runs off just six balls. He shared a crucial 112-run stand with Dhruv Jurel, who anchored the innings with a steady 51 off 35 deliveries.

Rajasthan maintained a strong scoring rate throughout, reaching 76 in the powerplay before finishing strongly with late contributions from Donovan Ferreira, who scored 33 off 16 balls.

However, their imposing total proved insufficient as Sunrisers Hyderabad completed a remarkable chase, registering one of the highest successful run chases of the season and showcasing their batting depth and composure under pressure.
